Malacañang took exception to the renewed call of 11 United Nations (UN) special rapporteurs for an urgent probe into the alleged human rights abuses in the Philippines under the Duterte administration, saying the justice system in the country was working just fine.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque made the statement after the experts urged the Human Rights Council to strengthen the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights’ mandate to continue its monitoring and reporting on the human rights violations in the Philippines
“[Ito ay] nagpapatunay po sa bias nitong mga special rapporteurs laban po sa administrasyon ni Presidente Duterte ,” he added. “Mali po ‘yan dahil pati po ang ICC , nagsasabi na merong principle na complementarity. Ang ICC gagana lamang kung ang lokal ng hukuman are unwilling or unable to exercise jurisdiction, hindi po yan ang katotohanan sa Pilipinas ,” he added
