The Star Project has secured £5,000 for its ambitious plan to extend its operation into a neighbouring building and complete a mass regeneration of the Wallace Street premises.
One of Paisley ’s most cherished charities has accepted its first bumper donation for its planned expansion just weeks after winning planning permission.
The duo were inspired to take on the 96-mile, five-day trek after learning about the lifeline support the anti-poverty charity offers some of the most vulnerable people in the community. Their more recent efforts will go some way to progressing the much-needed expansion of the Star Project’s facilities. Now in its 25th year, the charity has seen demand for its services increase four-fold in the past four years alone.
“The community loved following their West Highland Way progress on social media; they’ve become quite the superSTARs with their quick wit and inspiring messages. The workswill see a single-storey extension erected to the rear of 14 Wallace Street, with external alterations to the front, rear and side, while 12 Wallace Street will be refurbished on the inside.
Heather added: “Progress towards increasing space has been slow but steady. The money raised by Colin and Kevin will assist us as we move forward with the renovation, but we can assure the community that there will be minimal disruptions in services as the building gets underway.
