Members of Paisley Community Trust this week confirmed they would dissolve the volunteer-led charity as a result of the local authority’s “institutionalised disregard for the very communities it is appointed to serve”.
An ambition to create a cinema and community hub in Paisley town centre has died as the organisation behind it says efforts to progress plans with Renfrewshire Council are “futile”.
The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages. Had that question been the focus of the research, it would have, PCT argues, proven the demand for an outlet that would have been distinctly different to what the organisation describes as “bland multiplexes” on the outskirts of the town.
“This is a disheartening reality resulting in a necessary decision taken as a last resort out of our respect for the communities PCT aimed to serve.
