British actor Hugh Grant's 'painful' red-carpet interview at the Oscars has been labelled the 'most awkward' moment since the infamous Will Smith slap last year.

Hollywood stars took to the red carpet, where Grant received backlash over his interview with model Ashley Graham at the 95th ceremony on Sunday .

Viewers were quick to note Grant had given Graham uncomfortably short and aloof answers that came across as “painful” and “awkward”.“No one in particular,” he said.“Just my suit. I can’t remember my tailor,” he said. Laughing off the short replies, Graham kept the interview going by complimenting the actor for his role in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which was nominated for the Best Adapted Screenplay category.“Well, I’m barely in it, I’m in it for about three seconds,” Grant said.

Graham, still trying to get a response out of the Notting Hill actor, asked him: “Still, you showed up and you had fun, right?”People quickly took to social media to dissect the interview, with some boldly likening the uncomfortable moment to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at last year's award show.
