MANILA, Philippines: Although still affecting Batanes in extreme Northern Luzon, the northeast monsoon locally known as 'amihan' may end soon, the state-run weather agency said Friday.Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said amihan, which brings the cold mornings and nights, has weakened.

In its 5 a.m. advisory, the state weather bureau said it has not monitored any tropical cyclone or low pressure area inside or outside the country's area of responsibility.Currently, the easterlies – winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather – are affecting the archipelago.
