Luis Arraez out of the lineup as Padres face Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga on Tuesday
Officials are on tornado watch at Wrigley Field, but the storm is expected to pass, allowing the Padres and Cubs to get in Tuesday’s 4:40 p.m. start. If so, Manny Machado will get back in the lineup after a day off. He’ll serve as the designated hitter, pushing Donovan Solano to third base for a second straight start and Luis Arraez to the bench for an off-day against red-hot left-hander Shota Imanaga.
As far as the variable pieces in Tuesday’s lineup, Jose Azocar is in center field in place of Jackson Merrill and Kyle Higashioka will catch Randy Vásquez, his former teammate in New York, setting up Luis Campusano catching Wednesday’s day-after-night game. The Cubs are also getting a boost to the lineup as Cody Bellinger is returning from his rib fracture as the designated hitter. The former NL MVP is hitting .226/.320/.
