Dinelson Lamet replaces MacKenzie Gore, who goes on 15-day injured list after leaving Monday's game with elbow soreness
The Padres will be facing Garrett Hill, a rookie making just his fourth career start. Hill was a 26th-round draft choice out of San Diego State in 2018. He made his major league debut July 4 and beat Cleveland, but he lost his two most recent starts against the White Sox and A’s.
Before the game, the Padres announced left-hander MacKenzie Gore, who left Monday’s game with soreness in his pitching elbow, was placed on the 15-day injured list. He was replaced on the active roster by right-hander Dinelson Lamet, who is 0-1 this season with a 10.13 ERA in 11 games . In his last outing for the Padres , Lamet gave up three runs and four hits in 2 1/3 innings July 10 against San Francisco. Lamet turned 30 last week.
