Out-of-options Pedro Avila gets roster spot; Adrián Morejón heads to minors as Padres set roster for Petco debut

The Padres on Thursday optioned left-hander Adrián Morejón to Triple-A El Paso as they re-set their 26-man roster for their home opener. Right-handers Pedro Avila, Dylan Cease and Matt Waldron were all added to the roster after serving as designated extras for last week’s Seoul Series. Jeremiah Estrada and Randy Vasquez had already been optioned to the minors, leaving the Padres to essentially decide between Morejón and Avila for the swing-man spot on the roster.
