Manny Machado returns to Padres lineup as the DH to start series against the Oakland Athletics
As he indicated late Sunday afternoon, Manny Machado is back in the Padres lineup. Hobbled since Wednesday with a mild hip flexor strain, Machado will serve as the DH and bat fifth as the Padres begin a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics. Monday’s first pitch is at 6:40 p.m. Machado exited Wednesday’s game in Anaheim, resurfaced as a pinch-hitter on Thursday and was available off the bench on Saturday and Sunday.

Right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. hit his team-leading 12th homer on Sunday and is riding a career-high 15-game hitting streak, the longest active streak in the majors.
