Slumping Josh Bell down to fifth in order as Padres play final game of road trip against Marlins
The Florida native is making his first career appearance against the Marlins. Clevinger started the road trip with five innings of one-run ball in a win over the Nationals on Friday. Clevinger has a 3.80 ERA on the road this year compared with 2.96 at Petco Park.
The only current Marlins with history with Clevinger — Jorge Soler and Avisail Garcίa — are on the injured list.Lopez has a 4.99 ERA in 13 starts since the end of May, allowing opposing hitters a .779 OPS over that stretch. He had a 1.83 ERA and a .592 opponent OPS over the first two months of the season. Lopez beat the Padres with eight shutout innings in May, his only career appearance against San Diego.
