The Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr. will serve as the DH for the series finale vs. the Pirates, his first half-day off since returning from his suspension
The Padres, at least those unafraid of saying what needs to be said, have talked about needing to sweep bad teams.
Yet they are in danger of being swept by a bad team as they play the finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 9:35 a.m. Thursday. As it stands, the Padres have already lost three straight series to the Giants, Nationals and Pirates in dropping six games under .500, tied for a season high.More relevant now, they are 7½ games out of the finale wild-card spot, current held by the Dodgers, and the Pirates are now one of the four teams that they have to leapfrog to get back into that race.
