Padres looking to snap season-high six-game winning streak after going 12-15 in June
The struggling converted first baseman has started 79 of the Padres’ 82 games to date. His OPS, OPS+ , batting average , on-base percentage and slugging percentage would all be career lows if the season ended today.Cronenworth is walking more often than ever , but his strikeout rate is also the worst of his career, as is his isolated power and batting average on balls in play .
Perhaps most alarming, Cronenworth – who signed a seven-year, $80 million extension early in the season – is getting worse as the season progresses, as his OPS has dropped from .728 in April to .665 in May to .557 in June. At least for the Padres, June was a slight improvement despite losing the final six games of the month. They went 12-15 for a .444 winning percentage after a 10-16 May .
