Fernando Tatis Jr. meets with Padres President of Baseball Operations A.J. Preller; still to be determined when the suspended superstar will meet with his teammates

A.J. Preller met with Fernando Tatis Jr. on Thursday, away from Petco Park. The embattled 23-year-old superstar is expected to meet with owner Peter Seidler on Saturday. When the face-to-face with teammates will occur is still to be determined, although Jurickson Profar was hoping to see his friend at his locker instead of the boxes that piled up at Tatis’ empty seat. The path forward following Tatis’ 80-game suspension begins inside the clubhouse, when Tatis is ready.

“It’s one of those things,” right-hander Joe Musgrove said. “He makes a mistake. Part of being a man is owning up to it and dealing with what you have to deal with and move on. Some people are never going to forget this and some people are going to forgive him. You’ve just got to not worry about that and move forward with it.”

Said Wil Myers: “We just want to hear him be genuine and honest in here. Whatever happens in here, stays in here. As far as the trust being broken, I guess that’s obviously true … but that’s not to say that as a teammate that can’t be won back and obviously come back in here and be a great teammate and other people accept him and understand that people make mistakes and that you’ve got to find a way to forgive people at some point.

“I was a little bit down ,” Abrams said on the other side of the visiting clubhouse. “But it’s a good opportunity and I’m ready to go and get started here.”
