Former Padres pitcher MacKenzie Gore set for first start at Petco Park since trade to Nationals; Padres and Point Loma Nazarene University partnering on a pitching lab
“We were just there to watch,” Gore said. “ … It was something that since I was drafted they wanted to happen. It was cool to see.”
“I was ready to go,” Gore said. “But I don’t think it was anything crazy . Just trying to win the game. I was excited, but once the game started it was OK, I have to figure out how to get these guys out.” The 24-year-old Gore struck out eight while allowing five runs in six innings his last time out. He is 3-5 with a 4.02 ERA, 95 strikeouts and 34 walks in 80 2/3 innings in this first season with the Nationals.
