The Padres have announced their minor league coaching staffs and player development personnel, headlined by Pete Zamora returning to manage Triple-A El Paso, former Padres minor league Ruddy Giron serving as low Single-A Lake Elsinore’s hitting coach for the first time, Jonathan Mathews’ second gig as high Single-A Fort Wayne’s manager and first years in new positions for Double-A San Antonio manager Chris Tremie and Storm manager Brallan Pérez.
Among the player development personnel announcements is former Triple-A El Paso outfielder Tim Locastro beginning his coaching career as a roving baserunning and outfield coordinator. Former Mariners manager Scott Servais is returning as a special assistant to baseball operations and player development, while the return of former Padres manager Bud Black and Wil Myers was announced last week. Mathews last managed Fort Wayne in 2023. He was a hitting coordinator in player development last year and has previously been on the Padres’ big-league staff.Giron had stints with the Strom from 2016 through 2019. He was released the following year.
