The Green Bay Packers reportedly attempted to make an intriguing wide receiver trade this offseason.

Heading into the 2025 NFL offseason, the Green Bay Packers were expected to be aggressive and look to make some splash moves. One of the main positions of need was wide receiver.Leading up to the draft, there was not much action for the Packers at the position.

They signed former Kansas City Chiefs' wideout Mecole Hardman, but that was it. However, general manager Brian Gutekunst addressed the position twice in the 2025 NFL Draft.Green Bay went out and selected former Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden in the first round. He was recently signed to an extension by the Ravens, who opted against trading him.Bateman would have been a very intriguing pickup for the Packers. He has shown flashes of huge potential, but consistency has been a problem to begin his NFL career.Through his first four seasons in the league, Bateman has played in 52 games. He has racked up 138 receptions for 1,923 yards and 13 touchdowns.During the 2024 season, Bateman had his best year yet. He caught 45 passes for 756 yards and nine touchdowns.At 25 years old, Bateman received a three-year, $36.75 million contract from Baltimore. The Packers have Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Golden Williams, Dontayvion Wicks, and Bo Melton. Truthfully, they are likely going to have to move on from at least one of their top names.Gutekunst and the front office have built an impressive wide receiver room. They will still need one of those wideouts to step up and become the No. 1 target for Jordan Love, but they have plenty of options.Fans can at least rest easy knowing that Green Bay did try to make a move.
