The winter storm may cause some issues with your travel plans for the Christmas weekend.

John Goersmeyer, a spokesman for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, said travelers should contact their specific airlines to determine whether their flights will be impacted from the storm.

The National Weather Service reported Wednesday that the storm could bring 60 mph winds, temperatures in the single digits and snow, with much of it near the shores of Lake Erie. The wind chill factor is expected to drop as low as -25. Much of the same weather is expected to hit from the Midwest to the East Coast. Airports throughout the country are expected to be hindered because of it.From last week through Jan. 2, Cleveland Hopkins estimates that 415,000 passengers will travel through Cleveland, Goersmeyer said.

“It is the holiday travel season; we are going to expect some rough times as far as air-travel,” he said. “It’s really important to pack your patience.”“It gives you enough time to get through checkpoints, find a place to park and not be rushed,” he said.to check flight status, TSA wait times and parking availability.
