Local community colleges and Pace Suburban Bus service are teaming up to offer students and others who qualify free training for a bus driving career.
“It wasn’t so easy back in the day to get this training,” said Gervaise Edwards, manager of Continuing Corporate and Community Education at South Suburban College in South Holland, who is helping coordinate the event there. “The benefit I see for the program is actually helping people who are trying to restart or get a career started and I think it’s a great idea for them to be able to connect.”SSC’s training will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept.
Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills has already had its initial screening event, but other colleges with upcoming entry points into the program include Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 25, and Olive-Harvey College, 10001 S. Woodlawn Ave., Chicago, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 27.
Liz Micheletti, program manager, Corporate Community and Continuing Education at Moraine Valley Community College, said bus driving “is a really great career for people of all ages to start with whether you’re looking for your first job after you graduate or you’re looking to change careers.”By submitting your email to receive this newsletter, you agree to our
