Accident reconstructionist disagrees Michael Brown acted recklessly and with gross negligence.
MANSFIELD – A suspended state trooper is headed for trial on charges that accuse him of causing a fiery fatal crash in February in Tioga County that killed a teacher.
Brown was charged after his vehicle on Feb. 11 while passing another car on two-lane Route 6 in eastern Tioga County collided with a car driven by Christine E. Woodward, 47, of Troy. Dewalt testified he was driving at 55 to 60 miles an hour when a Jeep Cherokee came up from behind and tailgated him before passing him.
Vilello described his investigation, which included two interviews with Brown during which the trooper said he did not think he was running late to work and estimated his speed at 45 to 55. The speed limit there is 55. Brown started to pass 435 feet before impact and took evasive action 1.8 seconds before the collision, he said.
