Gilson Snow is still shipping snowboards and skis because he said 1,500 units were located in another building. Gilson Snow, whose products are aimed at the everyday snowboarder and skier, was established in 2013 but its roots go back decades earlier to New Zealand where Gilson’s father, as a child, built his first ultralight sailboat from a broom, sheet and tire.
By 2002 the boat was finished and he had built his first surfboard using polystyrene foam, fiberglass and epoxy. There he began working with Austin Royer, a seventh and eighth grade science teacher who also was a wood worker.
