Seven Pennsylvania representatives urged John Fetterman and Dave McCormick to oppose the package of appropriations bills that would fund DHS and other agencies.
A letter co-signed by seven Pennsylvania representatives urged senators John Fetterman and Dave McCormick to oppose the package of six appropriations bills that would fund the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies.
, released Tuesday, called for the senators to not pass the bill until they secure “meaningful, enforceable reforms” to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and related DHS activity. We voted against this bill last week and ask that you do the same. Funding without adequate reform risks endorsing current approaches that undermine public safety and due process, erode American liberties and weaken public trust. The letter was signed by Chris Deluzio , Brendan Boyle , Chrissy Houlahan , Dwight Evans , Madeleine Dean , May Gay Scanlon and Summer Lee . Fetterman has condemned ICE’s operation in Minneapolis, calling it an “ungovernable and dangerous urban theater” in a statement released Monday. While he agrees the DHS bill should be discussed separately from the other bills, he’s against opposing the overall package, which he believes could lead to shutdowns for other government agencies. “I want a conversation on the DHS appropriations bill and support stripping it from the minibus. It is unlikely that will happen and our country will suffer another shutdown,” Fetterman said. “We must find a way forward and I remain committed to being a voice of reason and common sense.”“full investigation”A partial shutdown would take effect at midnight on Friday, Jan. 30 if the Senate does not pass the bill.3 found dead in Bucks County home after police standoffLower Paxton police working to identify man after incident with dog on school campus Lower Paxton police are asking the public for help identifying a man after an "incident" at a Dauphin County school, where his dog was running with no leash.TUESDAY: Pennsylvania schools issue closings & delays As frigid temperatures persist following Sunday's snowfall, school districts across south-central Pennsylvania are announcing delays and closures for Tuesday.
