Berkley Medical Resources filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry informing the state it is closing its non-woven wiper plant at Fayette Business Park, 700 Mountain View Drive in Georges Township, near Smithfield. The company said in the WARN notice that all positions will be terminated. But, unlike most WARN notices, the company didn’t say how many people would be laid off.

The plant will close by December 31 with manufacturing ending on November 27 and warehousing and distribution closing on December 31.reports that the company said it hopes to reopen the plant by the end of next year, utilizing new, highly-automated production lines. The WARN Act is federal legislation that offers protection to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered-business closing and covered-business mass layoff.
