A Wilkes-Barre woman was killed in the Interstate 80 accident.
DANVILLE — A Lycoming County man who told state police he smokes marijuana daily has been charged with vehicular homicide following an investigation into aAnthony J. Machi, 45, of the Hughesville area, is accused of being responsible for the death of Yainyles J. Gomez Gomez, 23, of Wilkes-Barre.
Machi told investigators at the scene an animal ran across the highway in front of him causing him to swerve. In May in Lycoming County, he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and was placed on probation for a year. The charge stemmed from his being stopped on Dec. 29 by state police at a DUI checkpoint in the Williamsport area.
