A Pitcairn man faces an array of charges including the impersonation of a public servant.
According to police, 51-year-old Jason Birdwell followed an elderly woman along Wall Avenue and onto Route 22. Birdwell got out of his car and walked toward the woman’s car.drove away but Birdwell followed her in his car into a restaurant’s parking lot.
There he yelled at her, pointed to his body camera and said he caught her speeding. As the woman walked into the restaurant, the man yelled profanities at her and followed her closely. He didn’t leave until she called 911, according toMonroeville police found Birdwell on Route 22. The man said it was his right to stop the woman because “he was tired of the police not doing their job.” Police found a loaded gun, flashlight, handcuff key, and both a clipboard for writing traffic tickets and notebooks with traffic violations in Birdwell’s car. A patch with h “Fugitive Recovery Agent” written on it was also discovered. In addition to the impersonation of a public servant, Birdwell has been charged with harassment, firearms violations, possessing instruments of crime, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, firearms violations, stalking and more.
