Police say they've been unable to establish a motive for the killings.
Derrick Jones, 21, was taken into custody at his home in the 6900 block of Forrest Ave., and charged with three counts of murder.“That is the burning question: why did Mr. Jones murder in cold blood three males?”
In one killing on June 28, Zamir Syrus, 20, was shot multiple times just after getting off a SEPTA bus in the 6400 block of North Broad Street. Then, just before 11 p.m. on July 7, Tyhei Tucker, 21, and Justin R. Smith, 20, were shot just after they got off a SEPTA bus in the 1900 block of 68th Avenue.,Police have not been able to establish any connection between Jones and his victims, Smith said during a news conference Friday.
