Twenty-six out of the 30 death benefit checks have so far been given to the families of health workers who died due to the new coronavirus disease while in the line of duty, Malacañang announced Tuesday.
The Department of Health has also extended the sickness benefits checks to 17 out of the 18 health workers who contracted severe coronavirus while taking care of patients, according to presidential spokesman Harry Roque.
“Sa mga namatayan, 26 out of 30 families ang nakatanggap ng kanilang compensation na P1 million. Ang apat ay naghihintay ng special power of attorney. Dalawa dito ay nasa abroad ,” Roque said in a press briefing aired on state television. For health workers suffering severe COVID infection, Roque said 17 have been given P100,000 in sickness benefits. The remaining beneficiary has yet to pick up the compensation check.
