Oxhey Jets produced a superb performance against play-off hopefuls Yateley United but came up just short as they were beaten 2-1 in their Combined Counties League Division One Challenge Cup third round tie on Tuesday night.
The match got off to a dramatic start with Yateley missing a bolt-on chance for the lead, then minutes later Jets leading scorer Owen Ayres spurned an equally big opening at the other end. The hosts looked set to take that advantage into the break were bitterly disappointed to concede from a corner right on half-time.
