The owner of Margaret Thatcher's most iconic outfits has criticised the Victoria and Albert Museum after they described her as a 'contemporary villain'.

There were also calls for the institution, which receives almost £70million from the taxpayer, to be stripped of its public funding. The new rewording states: 'The characters have since been re-cast to reflect figures in the public eye – from Adolf Hitler during wartime to Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s being portrayed as villains, to more recently Nick Clegg as the clown and Simon Cowell as the judge.'
