The Giants are on a short list of reported finalists to sign pitcher Corbin Burnes; a new report suggests his price tag won't scare off the team's owner.

As the premier starting pitcher on the domestic free agent market, Corbin Burnes has a short list of suitors in the running to meet his lofty salary goals.Last week, the New York Yankees and left-handed pitcher Max Fried agreed to terms on an eight-year, $218 million contract. That likely gave Burnes, the 2021 National League Cy Young winner and a four-time All-Star, a target in mind for his first foray into free agency.

Especially a starting pitcher there are always risks, but I really think the ownership seems like they back Buster 100 percent. I texted with Greg Johnson, the principal owner last week. He said 'we 100 percent support any smart decisions Buster makes.' To me, replacing Blake Snell at the top of that rotation would be a very smart decision, so they're in the driver's seat if they want to do it.
