This article discusses how to combat self-doubt and insecurities that may arise, encouraging readers to persevere despite negative inner voices and past failures. It emphasizes the importance of taking risks, listening to supportive friends, and recognizing progress even when results aren't immediately apparent.

, respectively) could deal a blow to your self-confidence today. Old insecurities you thought you’d put to rest might return, or past failures could come back to haunt you. You might start to worry that the negative voice in your head has been right all along, and that you really don’t have what it takes — but now isn’t the time to give up.

If you keep going, in spite of your doubts, you’ll prove your inner critic wrong and feel stronger than before. You try to tell yourself that it’s better to swing big and potentially miss than to play it safe all the time. Today, though, you might have your doubts about that. The thought of others witnessing you trying and failing is so mortifying that you’d rather not try at all. But as tempting as it might be to stick to the sidelines, it won’t really bring you fulfillment. Take a risk or two just to remind yourself that you’re brave, capable, and strong enough to keep trying. When you’re feeling stressed, you tend to be harder on yourself than usual. You tell yourself that all of your problems are your own fault, that you must have done something to deserve whatever struggles you’re currently going through. Worst of all, you can convince yourself that your friends all see the worst in you, too. But today, remember that the people who love you aren’t nearly so critical. They see the best in you even when you can’t see it in yourself, so try to listen to them. You understand that you can’t expect to get everything you want exactly when you want it — and that while growth might happen more slowly than you’d like, that doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Today, though, you might be sick of being so patient. You’ve worked hard for long enough; it seems like if you haven’t gotten results by now, you probably never will. But don’t let a moment of frustration make you give up too soon: You’ve made more progress than you realize, so at least for now, try to keep going. Well-meaning friends sometimes encourage you to “just” believe in yourself, to “just” stop worrying so much. But you know that it isn’t so easy to get rid of your struggles and insecurities — they’re too deeply rooted, too irrational, for you to simply talk yourself out of them. Today, however, it might be a bit easier than you think. Try to get out into the world, to spend time with other people, to devote yourself to a real, material task. You won’t have so much time to ruminate on your problems, and for now, that might be enough. You have an image in your head of the person you’d like to be, the person you are on your best days. Today, though, you might feel impossibly disconnected from that best version of yourself. You worry that you’re actually weak and dull and ordinary, that as hard as you try, you’ll never live up to your ideals. You’re not perfect, but nobody is — and if you can try to view yourself more objectively, without focusing exclusively on everything you imagine is “wrong” with you, you’ll see glimmers of the person you want to be. In general, you pride yourself on your competence. You can navigate practically any situation — and if you don’t know what to do, you trust yourself to figure it out. Today, though, you might feel less sure of yourself than usual. Maybe you’re facing a challenge that truly has you at a loss, or maybe a recent misstep has you worried that you’ve lost your intuition. But try to remember that you’re still the same person as you’ve always been: Your inner strength is still there; you just have to reconnect with it. Most of the time, you’re good at seeing conflicts from all sides; even if you don’t agree with someone, you can at least understand where they’re coming from. Frustratingly, though, you don’t always get the sense that others give you the same consideration, and right now you might be quick to anger if you sense that someone is disregarding your perspective. When you don’t trust you’ll be heard, it can feel like it’s not worth voicing your opinion at all, but today, don’t back down. You can’t force anyone to listen to you, but you’ll still be glad you spoke up. While you understand that mistakes are a necessary part of the learning process, that doesn’t make them any more enjoyable, and you try to keep yours to an absolute minimum. One error is understandable, but by your second or third attempt, it starts to feel like you really should have things figured out by now. But this mind-set probably just causes you to feel unnecessary stress. If you’re learning from each successive mistake, if you’re trying new things and putting in genuine effort, then there’s no reason to be ashamed for occasionally getting things wrong. You’ve got big, ambitious ideas today, but you probably lack the energy to make them happen. Dreaming is one thing, but taking action requires motivation that you just don’t seem to have at the moment. This doesn’t mean you’re inherently lacking, that you’llmanage to set your plans in motion — it just means you’re exhausted and running on fumes. So for now, don’t guilt yourself for not managing to do more. Just focus on rebuilding your strength. Today, it could be tempting to look for a quick fix to your problems — one big gesture to set everything right, a few perfect words to settle any drama. But right now, you probably won’t manage to turn your life around in an instant or to mend your heartache with one good conversation. What this moment demands of you is patience: You’re on the right track already, and every small step you take is adding up — as long as you don’t take reckless action, you’ll get where you want eventually. You might convince yourself, today, that changing your life is impossible — there are too many external factors in the way, too many difficulties keeping you stuck in place. But while this might be true, at least to an extent, there’s also another possibility: That you’ve simply convinced yourself that change is futile because you’re afraid of the risk that comes with making a move. Try to be honest with yourself about whether your fear is the biggest thing holding you back — and what you might do to change that. When everything seems to change so quickly, it can be hard to keep up. Lately, especially, you might feel like you’re struggling to keep your bearings in a world that keeps evolving. But today, try to remember that even if everything around you feels different, you’re still, still as strong and curious and compassionate as ever. You’ve got the same core values you’ve always had, and even when everything else gets confusing, they can help you navigate the world around you.Nothing Feels Cringier Than Crushing on Your Kid’s CoachFor some women, reconstruction after mastectomy is a process riddled with complications and disappointment — that lasts years longer than treatment.
