4 Million worth of Methamphetamine in a massive drug bust. U.S. Customs and Border Protection released in a statement Monday that on May 9, the narcotics were seized from a tractor-trailer passing into the U.S. from Mexico. On May 9, a CBP Officer referred the 18-wheeler carrying a shipment of papayas for a secondary inspection. After conducting a non-intrusive inspection, and using CBP Canines, officers discovered 369 packages containing 606 pounds of what they allege to be meth, valued at $5,419,700. “This large seizure illustrates the dedication of our frontline officers to CBP’s border security mission and their effective utilization of inspection technology and canines to detect and interdict narcotics,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez. CBP seized the methamphetamine, and Homeland Security Investigations began looking into the incident.
