Labour's Gregor Poynton urged Scotland Secretary Ian Murray to meet the company to discuss the uncertainty surrounding hundreds of jobs.
Labour’s Gregor Poynton raised the alarm about the potential losses at the Mitsubishi Electric plant during a debate at Westminster.
The company website says the firm is the largest heat pump manufacturer in the UK and employs over 1500 people. He said: “This week we have heard the concerning news from Mitsubishi Electric, a plant in my constituency, that is looking to reduce its workforce from its current complement of 1600 by 440 jobs.
“However, no fault of their own, due to short term economic pressures, they have seen their order book fall away.”
