‘Outer Banks’ creators and executive producers Jonas and Josh Pate and Shannon Burke revealed that Netflix has renewed the series for a fifth and final season
Co-creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke revealed on Monday, November 4, that Netflix has renewed the teen adventure series for a fifth and final season. The trio confirmed the news via a “Dispatch to all Pogues” letter, which was shared via Instagram.
The trio noted that at the time, it felt “impossible” that the show would go on to tell a five-season story, noting that season 4 was the “longest and hardest” but also “most rewarding” to produce. Season 4 part 1, which premiered last month, debuted on Netflix at No. 1 in the global top 10 English TV and has remained there since. The back half of season 4 is set to release on the streamer Thursday, November 7.
The co-creators then shifted to what lies ahead of the series: “Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago.” Outer Banks, which premiered in April 2020, follows a North Carolina beach community divided into two subsets, Pogues and Kooks, who are both on a search for hidden treasure. The series stars Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey and Austin North.
