The study takes into account images from NASA’s Chandra X-Ray Observatory and radio emission data from the MeerKAT telescope.

There is a chimney at the center of our galaxy. Astronomers knew about it, but this is the first time they discovered its exhaust vent.

In a new study, a team of researchers claims that Sgr A* has caused the formation of a chimney and an exhaust vent at the center of the Milky Way. X-ray: NASA/CXC/Univ. of Chicago/S.C. Wolk “The left side of the exhaust vent is likely particularly bright in X-rays because the gas flowing upwards is striking the tunnel wall at a more direct angle and with more force than other regions,” NASASimilar to the chimney in your kitchen, the chimney formed by Sgr A* also has a tunnel-like structure with walls that carry the hot gas to the vent.
