The federal Liberal government enacted a new policy on diagnostic services in 2020 ensuring fees for such tests were covered by the Canada Health Act’s single-payer policy. On Thursday, Duclos wrote to provincial ministers that it’s important to uphold the Canada Health Act and that Canada’s publicly funded system be protected.Article content
Merriman said this system was introduced in 2016 to give patients “more choice,” arguing it adds capacity to the publicly funded system “at no extra cost.”
