The Buckeyes beat Texas in Columbus in the season opener for both teams last year. They also beat the Longhorns in a 2024 College Football Playoff semifinal game in Dallas eight months earlier. The 2026 matchup is scheduled to take place on Sat. , Sept. 12, at Darrel K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Both teams figure to be ranked in the top five, as they were in Week 1 last year. Both teams also are expected to be starting Heisman Trophy contenders at quarterback -- OSU's Julian Sayin and Texas' Arch Manning. As of this writing, most sportsbooks have Texas favored by one or two points, but two outlets have OSU as a 1.5-point favorite.
