Ohio State University officials have confirmed that multiple students have received the racist spam text messages that have made national headline this week. Some are calling the messages racist, notifying recipients that they've been selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation as one of the country's newest slaves.
"It's very disturbing, just because it's a little bit scary because you don't know who," said Daizhon Cox, an OSU student who has received one of the text messages. "It's just really troubling, and leaves me at a loss for words.""It's just really kind of scary because you really don't know where we're heading," Cox said."You don't know who is sending the message," Cox said.
The FBI released a statement indicating investigators are aware of the offensive messages, pointing out that it has been in contact with the Justice Department and other federal authorities on the matter. "My initial reaction to the text messages that have been going out is great disappointment," he said. "I hope they will not put it on the back burner, that they will confront it especially since many of these texts are being received by young people."
