Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia has secured $20 million in fundraising during the second quarter of this year for his reelection campaign, outpacing his Republican opponent by nearly ten times. as of Wednesday, Ossoff's campaign reported $42 million in cash on hand, a substantial war chest for the final stretch of the race. the campaign highlighted that nearly 90% of the donations received from April through June were $100 or less, with an average contribution of $42.
This fundraising momentum underscores a broad base of compact-dollar support. In contrast, Republican challenger Mike Collins raised only $2.1 million in the past three moNths and has roughly the same amount available. The Ossoff campaign manager,Ellen Foster, stated that this grassroots momentum is crucial to counter Republican dark cash, power a winning coalition, and defeat Collins in November.
Collins's campaign dismissed the financial disparity, arguing that Ossoff relies on out-of-state donors while Collins enjoys support from everyday Georgians who prioritize local interests. The financial gap illustrates a significant advantage for the incumbent ahead of the November election.
Meanwhile, in a seperate race, Democrat Talarico raised $30 million in the last quarter compared to Republican Paxton's $9 million, reflecting a similar trend in fundraising dynamics
