Hollywood’s most prestigious awards ceremony has been held at the Dolby Theatre, formerly known as the Kodak Theatre, since 2002. Before that its home has included such venues as the Shrine Auditorium, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Pantages Theatre, all the way back to the Hollywood Roosevelt where the inaugural Academy Awards were held in 1929. In December, the Academy announced it was leaving ABC, where it had been broadcast since 1976, for an exclusive agreement to be streamed on YouTube in 2029. The Peacock Theater has hosted such awards shows as the Emmy Awards, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies, and more.
