Goths, lovers of million-dollar diamonds, and nail art enthusiasts unite.
Best actor winner Michael B. Jordan wore David Yurman, which comes as no surprise as he stars in the New York jewelry designer’s ad campaign. Last night the Sinners star wore a custom brooch on the back of his jacket.
The custom piece was a mix of pavé and white diamonds with a rose-cut black diamond in the center. He also wore a vintage Piaget watch. He wasn’t the only actor to don a brooch. Pedro Pascal chose an oversized flower from Chanel and Elite actor Arón Piper wore a delicate flower on his custom Dior jacket. Brooches have been a red carpet trend for men the past couple of years as a way to show some sparkle and liven up a tuxedo with a little personality. Further exceptional jewelry included best actress nominee Kate Hudson’s green diamonds worth $35 million from Garatti, including a custom necklace with a 16-carat Fancy Green diamond surrounded by 49.85 carats of white diamonds. Best supporting actress nominee Elle Fanning wore 1903 Cartier jewels in the shape of wisteria, which reminded her of her childhood home. Sinners’ very own vampire Jack O'Connell went in character with dark sunglasses and prosthetic fangs on the red carpet, perhaps still in character as his role as villainous Remmick. Not one to be outdone in the gothic department, Hamnet director Chloé Zhao wore a black veil from designer Gabriela Hearst, who also did her black gown, on the red carpet. Underneath you could see just a peek of a Bulgari diamond necklace. Law Roach, who bills himself a style architect and has created countless memorable looks for his friend and client Zendaya, carried a 2004 book shaped minaudière from Chanel, although it might have been upstaged by his sweet, new pixie haircut. The most dramatic nails of the night by far went to KPop Demon Hunters star Audrey Nuna whose were Oscars gold with bulbous 3D orb charms–and a nod to “Golden,” the Best Original Song winner of the night. Marielle Co of LA-based nail studio Girlfriend Bar created them. A more subtle but memorable nail look was from Best Supporting Actress nominee Wunmi Mosaku whose were a rich mahogany shade by Aprés called Blood Moon applied by nail artist Sarah Chue.
