“It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan,” said Craig Spurlock, one of the filmmaker’s older brothers. “Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas, and generosity. The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. I am so proud to have worked together with him.”being his most noted work. In that film, Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald’s food for 30 days in order to show the adverse effects of fast food.
His career slowed in 2017, when Spurlock wrote a blog post during the height of the MeToo Movement acknowledging that he had a history of sexual misconduct, which ended up delaying his theatrical release of his follow-up to “Super Size Me,”“Spurlock fearlessly challenged modern conventions utilizing humor and wit to shed light on societal issues,” the family said in its statement. “His films inspired critical thinking and encouraged viewers to question the status quo.
“He deeply valued the creative contributions of the talented people who worked on his projects, developing a cadre of freelance production professionals who came back time and again. A great lover of modern artists, Spurlock compiled an extensive art collection, which decorated the walls of his home and the Warrior Poets office in SoHo, New York.”
Spurlock is survived by two sons, Laken and Kallen, his mother Phyllis, his father Ben, his brothers Craig and Barry, and ex-wives and mothers of his children Alexandra Jamieson and Sara Bernstein.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
