Oscar Isaac, who plays Marc Spector/Steven Grant on the Disney+ series MoonKnight, confirms that he has spoken with Marvel about returning: 'There have been some specific conversations. They were pleasant.'
Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac says he has spoken with Marvel about reprising his role as the titular hero. Isaac made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Moon Knight earlier this year on Disney+, coming after Hawkeye as the first MCU television series of 2022. The series was the latest genre-bending installment of the MCU's Phase 4, seeing Isaac's Marc Spector, a mercenary with Dissociative Identity Disorder, struggle to work with his alter, Steven Grant, and his estranged wife Layla .
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Moon Knight was announced and promoted as a limited series by Marvel, and the six-episode season worked as an isolated foray into a very different facet of the MCU. However, its positive reception by critics and audiences, and the Jake Lockley cliffhanger in the finale, seemed to open up the possibility for a season 2. About two weeks ago, Isaac implied a future for Moon Knight within the MCU, teasing his return as the title character. While speaking with ComicBook.
"There have been some specific conversations. They were pleasant. The spilling of the details it that there's no details. We don't know [if there will be a second season], but we're talking about it. Truthfully, it's about the story. Is there a story worth telling? Is it interesting? Will I feel embarrassed about it when it comes out? So it's just about, is there something worth pouring everything you have into. And with Moon Knight, that was very much about that.
Where Else Could Moon Knight Appear In The MCU? Given the newfound variety that the MCU has been offering throughout Phase 4, which has included more magic with WandaVision and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, more horror with that same Raimi-directed film and Werewolf by Night, and mutliversal romps like Spider-Man: No Way Home, the possibilities for Moon Knight's return are limitless.
Though there are no concrete plans for Moon Knight's MCU return, the show acting as a limited series doesn't shut the door on a future season 2, since Loki was announced the same way and later got renewed. If Isaac does reprise his role as Moon Knight, it will be interesting to see how the character fits into the larger narrative of the MCU moving forward, assuming he doesn't star in another more isolated project.
