An acclaimed documentary filmmaker has signed on to direct Ellen Pompeo in Hulu's forthcoming scripted Orphan-inspired miniseries
I’ll Be Gone in the Dark. The untitled Hulu project marks Garbus’ second venture into scripted dramas after previous helming one episode ofminiseries will center around a Midwestern couple who adopts what they believe is an 8-year-old girl with a rare form of dwarfism. “As they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, they slowly start to believe she may not be who she says she is,” reads the synopsis.
The project will be written and executive produced by Katie Robbins, with Erin Levy serving as an executive producer and showrunner. Pompeo and Laura Holstein will be executive producing through their Calamity Jane banner along with Mike Epps, Dan Spilo, Niles Kirchner, and Andrew Stearn.
