The last Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates was played back in March which ended 3-2 in favour of the Buccaneers.

Orlando Pirates have already played three games this season, which gives them an advantage over Chiefs. By the time the league kicks off, the Buccaneers will be the sharper of the two sides. That however might not be important given the two teams only meet next year. Orlando Pirates did a double over Kaizer Chiefs last season, on their way to winning a double. The Glamour Boys are a different side this season, having acquired the services of Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi. The two teams can still face each other in the Carling Knockout Cup later this year.
With the one-point loss in the Rugby World Cup final still hanging over them the All Blacks will want blood when they visit Ellis Park and DHL Stadium.
