Orlando Bloom has expressed openness to returning for a reboot of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. While he didn't participate in the last two installments, Bloom revealed that he's heard producer Jerry Bruckheimer is excited about the new direction.
Bloom played Will Turner in the first three films in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise — 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, 2006’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, and 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
Those three movies were followed by two additional sequels, 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strange Tides and 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which Bloom did not return for.. It is supposedly a reboot of the franchise; although, Bruckheimer has also stated that he hopes Johnny Depp will reprise his Captain Jack Sparrow in some capacity at some point in the future.
“It’ll be interesting to see,” Bloom said. “Jerry always brings out the big guns, as it were – pardon the pun. Cannons, I should say.” Regarding whether or not he’d be willing to return for another Pirates installment, Bloom said, “Listen, it was a wild and fun experience so, you know, never say never. I have a lot of respect for that experience, and Jerry, and the whole thing. But who knows? I mean, it’s sort of one of those things I really haven’t thought about it, really.”He added, “I’m happy that I got to be a part of something that feels like it’s standing the test of time, which is cool.
