Orion Jean, Time Magazine's 'Kid of the Year,' to throw ceremonial first pitch for Texas Rangers
Next week, Orion will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Texas Rangers’ home opener. Catching Orion’s pitch will be Hall of Fame catcher Ivan Rodriguez.
Jean, a student at Alma Martinez Intermediate School in Mansfield, summarized his philosophy in an interview earlier this year with actor and humanitarian Angelina Jolie.Orion has done just that. In 2020, he launched a campaign called “Race to Kindness,” which he described as a call to action, tackling food insecurity, collecting toys for a local hospital and donating books to low-income children.magazine selected the 2021 Kid of the Year from a field of more than 5,000 nominees, ages 8 to 16.
