A piece of the iconic C-3PO costume, the golden droid's head from 'Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back,' sold for over $1 million at auction. The prop, the only original C-3PO head from the film believed to be available, was put up for auction by Propstore and was estimated to sell for between $350,000 and $700,000. The auction also featured other movie memorabilia, including items from 'Top Gun,' 'The Lord of the Rings,' and 'Jaws,' with total sales reaching $6.5 million.

The head "is believed to be the only original C-3PO head from the film in the collector's market," per Propstore’s listing. It was estimated to sell for anywhere between $350,000 and $700,000."The whole head has been intentionally distressed and tarnished to give the character a weathered look, worlds away from the clean, golden sheen with which the character appeared during the medal ceremony at the end of ," a description of the prop reads, per"While much of the original dulling spray applied to the finish is no longer present, it still retains much of its original metallic finish.
