After applying for an Investing in Canada Program grant, the City of Humboldt found it did not qualify.

After applying for an Investing in Canada Program grant to help fund the construction of a Humboldt Broncos tribute centre and permanent roadside memorial, City of Humboldt administration recently found out it did not qualify for the grant.

In the April 6, 2018 collision involving the Broncos team bus, 16 people were killed and 13 were injured. In March 2019, semi driver Jaskirat Singh Sidhu was sentenced to eight years after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing death and bodily harm in the collision. The project includes plans for a multipurpose ice and event arena, a tribute centre gallery, community use spaces and for a roadside memorial to be located at highways 35 and 335 near the site of the collision.Article content

The city was notified that due to the total number of applications and funding requests exceeding the amount of funds available, their application was not selected and will not be forwarded to the federal government.
