As residents clean up the devastation left behind by the EF-3 tornado that ravaged parts of the Indian Lake area, they’re getting assistance from a national group that provides as place to get clean.

“It’s amazing it’s really helped out a lot,” said Amanda Churchill, whose home was damaged by the tornado. She dropped off a couple of bags Monday afternoon. “It feels, I don’t know how to express it. It’s great. It’s warm, clean. Normal.” As residents drop of clothing, they get a receipt for pick-up, and the Loads of Hope team will text them when it’s ready. They’re planning to be in the Church of God parking lot in Russells Point through, at least, Wednesday; possibly longer if the community needs them.

“Water and electricity are not always available in these times, and so if we can provide someone fresh clothing, fresh towels, it can hopefully make their lives a little bit easier for the moment,” said Megan Westheider, the Executive Manager of Processing for Matthew 25 Ministries. “We are grateful that we have the opportunity to help. That we’re able to provide this service.”deploys from Blue Ash, Ohio, to dozens of disaster sites every year since 1991.

For residents like Amanda Churchill, the help is priceless. It provides a glimmer of hope in the midst of a bleak landscape. “Keep your head up. Keep praying,” she says. “It’ll all get back to normal as soon as possible. I’m sure.”
