An Orem woman's daughter getting lost under school district care has prompted a call for changes within the Alpine School District .
Six days into the school year, Largin became alarmed when her daughter did not get off the bus at her designated stop. In a phone conversation with the school's secretary, Largin was horrified to learn that her daughter was missing. Aurora was eventually found by her father, half a mile away from her bus stop, lost and in tears. The experience led Largin to change her daughter’s schools.
"This was a misstep for sure. The bus driver did not adequately verify the tag that was on their backpack," Stowell said.The district has responded by implementing additional training for bus drivers to ensure such errors are avoided in the future."We're a learning organization. When we misstep, we acknowledge it, investigate the causes, and take corrective actions," he said.
